Triplets Get Clutch Win, 5-4
|
Isotopes Park was the site of a competitive game between the Albuquerque Isotopes and Evansville Triplets.
The Evansville Triplets faced a tough opponent in Albuquerque pitcher Luke Lugue, but still scratched out a win at Isotopes Park by a final score of 5-4 in 10 innings. Lugue went 6.2 innings and allowed 2 runs. Morton Rose wrapped it up, recording his 1st save.
Evansville used the timely hitting of Tokuji Aoyagi to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Triplets on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It was a test of wills," said Lenny Meudt, the Evansville skipper. "I'm glad we came out of it with a win."
The Triplets have an impressive 31-16 record.
