Isotopes Pull Off Thrilling 3-1 Win in Extras
|
The Tacoma Rainiers could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Kyle Murphy into a win. Instead, the Albuquerque Isotopes prevailed, 3-1, in 10 innings. Murphy threw 8.1 innings of 4-hit ball. The Isotopes win now puts them at 25-19.
The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Jason Lin came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing Tacoma pitcher Reese Dayo, he hit a 0-1 cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Albuquerque on top, 2-1.
"Every loss hurts," said Tacoma manager Steve Osborn. "But this was a tough one."
