Wranglers Earn Late 3-2 Win
|
The Oklahoma City Wranglers, despite a fine performance by Evansville pitcher Rodrigo Ortiz, grabbed a 3-2 win at Wranglers Ballpark. Ortiz allowed 2 runs over 6.2 innings. The winner was Oklahoma City reliever Brandon Dunbar, now 1-1. The loser was Kelley Graser. Picking up the save was Mason Hall, his 7th.
Linley Payne, who is tied for 10th in the PCL in hits with 42, chipped in a solo home run for Oklahoma City in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the center fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 1 run batted in.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Oklahoma City manager Jim Petit said.
At 21-16, the Wranglers are currently 4th in the Pacific Coast League American Divison.
