Vallejo Hammers 2 Homers in 5-4 Win
|
The El Paso Chihuahuas turned back the Reno Aces, 5-4, at Southwest University park. Hector Vallejo, in particular, had a fine performance. He went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Dallas Potts picked up the win in relief for El Paso, while Tristram Thiele took the loss. Frasquito Duran earned the save for El Paso, his 9th of the year.
Vallejo had a timely hit for El Paso in the bottom of the eighth. With El Paso trailing 4-3, he turned a full count fastball into a 2-run home run. It was his 10th home run of the season, making it 5-4, El Paso.
"We're trying to go out there and win games," Vallejo told the El Paso Chronicle, "and we played pretty well tonight."
El Paso is in 7th place in the Pacific Coast League Pacific Division with a record of 15-19.
