El Paso designated hitter Ibrahim Izaguirre was instrumental in helping the Chihuahuas triumph, 9-6, over the New Orleans Baby Cakes. Izaguirre hit 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. El Paso reliever Tito Pineiro got the win, raising his record to 1-1. Jason Long was tagged with the loss. Frasquito Duran closed it out for El Paso, earning his 2nd save.

Fred Fiore took New Orleans hurler Jason Long deep in the bottom of the seventh. His 3-run home run put the Chihuahuas on top, 6-5. In all, Fiore had 2 singles in addition to the home run, while going 3 for 5.

"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," Izaguirre said in reaction to the win.

The win puts the Chihuahuas at 16-17, while the Baby Cakes drop to 21-12.
