The Iowa Cubs did just enough to sneak past the Edmonton Edge, 2-1, at Field of the Edge. Iowa pitcher Fletcher Ray, in particular, had a standout performance. Ray got the win, improving to 3-1. He allowed 6 hits and walked 3 over 6.2 innings. Ray allowed 1 run. The save went to Kurt Copeland, number 3 for him.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Darwin González? The Iowa right fielder had a run-scoring walk in the top of the fourth inning to put the Cubs on top, 2-1. For the game, González had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
