Cascades Take Down Cubs, 4-3
|
The Vancouver Cascades picked up a win at Wrigley Field, knocking off the Chicago Cubs, 4-3. Starting pitcher Korbin Hiebert was a big reason why. Hiebert, now 5-2, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 7, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs. Chris Kazan recorded the save for Vancouver, his 2nd of the season.
Vancouver took a 4-2 lead on Jessie Cochran's 5th home run of the season. The solo home run, which Cochran hit in the top of the seventh, left Chicago pitcher Lawrence Dagley visibly frustrated.
Hiebert attributed the win to his team's "focus and intensity."
With the victory, the Cascades upped their record to 27-21.
