ThunderSharks Lose By a Run at Tacoma
Tacoma registered a win at Cheney Stadium by beating the Honolulu ThunderSharks, 4-3. Pitcher Lon Denate was one reason why the Rainiers triumphed. Denate yielded 3 runs over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 0, and struck out 8. His record improves to 1-1. Getting the save was Zack Karcher, his 1st.

Had Rod Zaino not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Zaino hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Rainiers.

"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Tacoma skipper Chris McCollum. "I can't complain."

Tacoma, now 18-5, is playing great baseball to start the year.
