Finlay Garrett pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Tacoma Rainiers, despite Garrett's fine outing, dropped a 2-0 decision to the Sacramento River Cats at Cheney Stadium. Antonio Serrato nailed down the save. With the win, Sacramento improves its record to 12-7.
Sacramento used the timely hitting of Sylvain Parent to capture the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the River Cats on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Sacramento manager Boone Broyles said.
