Honolulu Keeps Spiraling Downward
|
Fans saw a dandy of a game between the Oklahoma City Wranglers and Honolulu ThunderSharks.
Both offenses were relatively subdued at Wranglers Ballpark. Fortunately for the Oklahoma City Wranglers, though, Peter Redman was able to deliver in the clutch. He went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times, to lead his team past the Honolulu ThunderSharks, 3-2. Gastón Soledad, who went 6.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 2 runs on 6 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 7. His record now stands at 2-0. Jason Whiteside was called on to finish, recording his 5th save.
In the bottom of the fourth, Oklahoma City center fielder Elijah Gomez had a run-producing at-bat. Facing Honolulu hurler Sheppard Rabenstein, Gomez hit a sacrifice fly. That made the score 3-1, Oklahoma City. For the day, Gomez drove in one run.
"Shoot," said losing manager Neil Kuntz, "I thought we might win one."
With the loss, Honolulu falls to 3-15.
