Iowa Bats Quiet in 9-1 Loss
The Winnipeg Goldeyes thumped the Iowa Cubs, 9-1, at NBT Bank Stadium. Lucas Shanafelt was a big reason his team got the win. Shanafelt went 2 for 5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Quint Anders picked up the win with 6.2 innings of work. He allowed 1 run on 5 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 6. On the season, he is now 3-1. With the win, Winnipeg goes to 9-7.

With Winnipeg leading 4-0 in the bottom of the sixth, Shanafelt came up to bat against Iowa pitcher Justin Lorenson. Shanafelt hit a curveball to left for a 3-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season put the Goldeyes on top, 7-0.

"We didn't help ourselves, it's as simple as that," said losing manager Tony Osorio.
