A good performance from first baseman Matt Esam helped the Iowa Cubs defeat the Honolulu ThunderSharks, 4-2. Esam slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Cubs. The winner was Dominic Brangan, who threw 102 pitches over 7.2 innings. The right-hander was charged with 2 runs on 6 hits. Lindsey Sawyer earned the save for Iowa, his 1st of the year.
