Wranglers Lose Late, 6-3
|
The Evansville Triplets beat the Oklahoma City Wranglers, 6-3, at Wranglers Ballpark. The Triplets got a fine performance from second baseman Erik Yaros, who went 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk. Josiah Ficek closed the door for Evansville, picking up his 2nd save of the year. The win gives Evansville a record of 8-4.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman John Benavides came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Oklahoma City pitcher Ivo Cordero, he hit a 3-1 fastball for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Evansville on top, 5-3.
Yaros attributed the win to his team's "focus and intensity."
