Wranglers Foil 66ers, 8-6
|
Ray Fernández did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Inland Empire 66ers from losing, 8-6, to the Oklahoma City Wranglers at Wranglers Ballpark. Fernández went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Emerson Roumet came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 2 hits in 2.2 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. Oklahoma City has a mark of 5-4 after the win.
A critical at-bat came in the bottom of the seventh inning when the Wranglers sent 22-year-old left fielder Maverick Flood to the plate with the bases loaded. The youngster shook off the pressure and drew a walk, driving in 1 run, to put Oklahoma City on top, 6-4.
"It was a solid team effort," Flood said. "That's usually what it takes to win."
