Starting pitcher Dicky Apreza pitched well enough to help the Victoria HarbourCats beat the Sacramento River Cats, 7-3. The loss drops the River Cats to 2-4.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the eighth, with the game tied, Timo Hidalgo was at the plate when Victoria scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the HarbourCats to go in front, 4-3.

"Really good pitchers have that ability to raise their game when they need to," said Victoria manager Ricky Ugalde.
