Warren Felton was outstanding against California. The right-hander, who is tied for 3rd in the WEST in innings pitched with 64.0, had a changeup that was virtually unhittable at times. The result was a Royals 3-1 win. The Royals sport a record of 19-28.
Kansas City left fielder Walter Steffen contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a cutter into center field for a 2-run single. It was his 42nd hit of the season and put the Royals ahead, 2-0.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Steffen, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
