Bears Suffer 5-2 Home Defeat
|
The Toledo Mud Hens knocked off the Newark Bears, 5-2, in International League action at Valiants Ballpark. Toledo pitcher and Plymouth, Massachusetts, native Zachary Gilbert had an outstanding performance. The last-place Mud Hens go to 45-88.
Toledo used the clutch hitting of Josh Schuttler to snag the win. The designated hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Mud Hens ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.
Schuttler called the win "a pick-me-upper."
