Bisons Rebuff Bats, 4-3
|
The Buffalo Bisons knocked off the Louisville Bats, 4-3, in International League action at Coca-Cola Field. Buffalo pitcher and Commack, New York, native Beckett Willis had an outstanding performance. Willis, the winner, moves to 8-2. He threw 6 innings of 1-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 2 walks. The win puts Buffalo at 84-52 this season.
Seth Morvant had a big solo home run for the Bisons in the bottom of the seventh inning. With Buffalo leading 3-0 and the bases empty, he got a changeup from Damian Vergara and swatted a home run to right. It was his 7th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Bisons ahead, 4-0.
"This team has the heart of a lion," said Bisons manager Rich Hernandez.
