Bears 1B Naylor 3-for-5 in Win
The Newark Bears beat the Columbus Clippers, 17-5, at Huntington Park. The win was due in part to first baseman Bobby Naylor, who was 3 for 5 with a home run, 2 doubles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 6. Raymundo Baum earned the save for Newark, his 3rd. The Bears go to 59-74, putting them last in the International League Northeast Division.

With Newark leading 5-2 in the top of the sixth, Naylor hit a fastball from Kenkichi Sakubara for a grand slam home run. It was his 10th home run of the season and put the Bears ahead, 9-2.

Naylor told a local reporter: "My job is to go out and play as hard as I can."
