Grizzlies Earn 2-1 Win Versus Chiefs
|
Tyron Irlbeck was locked and loaded, helping the Maine Grizzlies beat the Syracuse Chiefs, 2-1. Ken Malloy closed the door for Maine, picking up his 4th save of the year. The 7th-place Grizzlies sport a record of 63-73.
The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Sylvester Barr came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Syracuse pitcher Irvin Montano, he hit a 0-1 curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Maine on top, 2-1.
"It wasn't easy, but we got it done," said Barr.
