Barons Bridle Dundies, 4-3
|
The Birmingham Barons did just enough to sneak past the Scranton Dundies, 4-3, at Raley Field. Birmingham pitcher Rodney Burgess, in particular, had a standout performance. Birmingham is 4th in the International League Southwest Division with a record of 65-64.
Townsend, Massachusetts-born Rob Jarvis came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the seventh, with runners on 2nd and 3rd and the Barons trailing 3-2, he hit a 2-run single to left to put Birmingham on top.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Burgess said.
