Gillett Shines in 7-4 Durham Win
|
Durham took on Birmingham in front of a lively crowd.
Led by Henley Gillett, the Durham Bulls defeated the Birmingham Barons, 7-4. Gillett was 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Bulls. Trey Brown earned his 2nd save, after closing out the game.
With Durham leading 3-1 in the top of the fifth, Gillett came up to bat against Birmingham pitcher Will Leach. Gillett hit a cutter to right for a 2-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season put the Bulls on top, 5-1.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Gillett told the Durham Herald.
Today's win puts Durham at 53-75, while Birmingham falls to 66-62.
