Power Win at Home, 7-4
|
West Virginia played host to Columbus at Appalachian Power Park.
The West Virginia Power topped the Columbus Catfish, 7-4, in South Atlantic League action at Appalachian Power Park. The standout performance belonged to West Virginia pitcher and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, native Guillermo Ramos. Jeff Jaskowiak got credit for the win, improving to 2-2. He allowed 2 runs on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. Jim Tschopp recorded the save, making him 13 for 19.
The Power got a big at-bat from first baseman Sebastian Ceja. For the game, Ceja was 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 5th home run of the season gave West Virginia a 3-1 lead.
"I thought we competed really well," said Power manager Mike Jefferson. "I thought the energy was really good."
The Power, at 49-59, inhabit 8th place in the South Atlantic League Northwest Division.
