Catfish Use Late Score to Top Suns, 3-2
|
The Catfish grabbed a win, 3-2, at Ballpark of Hagerstown, overcoming a fine effort from Hagerstown pitcher J.B. Whitson. Whitson went 6.2 innings and allowed no runs. The win went to Heitor Garza in relief, making him now 9-2. Eugene Washington took the loss for Hagerstown. Picking up the save was 20-year old right-handed pitcher Tyler Livni.
Ralph Wanzer had a direct impact on the outcome. Wanzer contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning to put Columbus up, 3-2.
"Every loss hurts," said Hagerstown manager Josh McMichael. "But this was a tough one."
The victory gives Columbus a record of 54-52.
