Columbus 7-2 Losers to Braves
|
Conditions were not ideal but Rome and Columbus were able to put their game in the books.
The Rome Braves used the hitting of second baseman Lorenzo Pérez to subdue the Columbus Catfish, 7-2. For the game, Pérez was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Gideon Siegel got the win, improving to 4-2. He pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 8 hits and 1 run, while striking out 6 and walking 2.
Johnny Corrales, who is tied for 7th in the SAL in triples with 4, helped out the Rome cause in the bottom of the fifth inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the designated hitter went 1 for 2 with a walk.
"When this team comes together and plays the way we can, we can compete with anyone," said Corrales. "I think we're going to keep proving that."
With this game in the books, Rome is 57-48, Columbus 57-48.
