The Hickory Crawdads downed the Bowling Green Hot Rods, 2-1, in 12 innings. P.J. Brooks led the way, going 3-for-4 for Hickory. The win belonged to Oscar Serrano in relief. His record improves to 5-8. Freeman Cartledge took the loss for Bowling Green. The 7th-place Crawdads are 49-58.
Brooks had a game-changing home run in the top of the 12th. On a full count fastball from Freeman Cartledge, he banged a solo home run to left, giving the Crawdads a 2-1 lead. It was the 14th home run of the year for Brooks.
"Tough ballgame, tough loss," said Bowling Green manager Scott Meissner.
