Hickory Sent Home with 7-0 Loss

Matt Brode was locked and loaded, helping the Bowling Green Hot Rods beat the Hickory Crawdads, 7-0. The win belonged to R.J. Almonte in relief. His record improves to 6-3. Diogo Pérez took the loss for Hickory. The third-place Hot Rods now sit at 58-47.
Orik Grulke had a big grand slam home run for the Hot Rods in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Bowling Green leading 2-0 and the bases loaded, he sized up a sinker from 21-year old right-handed pitcher Diogo Pérez and punished it. The result was his 10th home run of the season, which put the Hot Rods on top, 6-0.
"No complaints from me," said Hot Rods manager Jesus Sánchez. "I like what I saw out there."
