Tourists Squeeze Out Win in Pitching Duel
|
Asheville Tourists starter Simon Masson hurled his team past the Delmarva Shorebirds, 1-0. Jimmy Black earned the save for Asheville, his 8th of the year. The Tourists now have a mark of 42-61.
The Tourists got a big at-bat from pinch hitter Bill Valle. For the game, Valle went 1-1 with a home run. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Asheville a 1-0 lead.
"Simon answered the bell," said Asheville manager Miles Yilmaz.
