|
The Ottawa Oddballs defeated the Toledo Mud Hens, 7-1, in part because of catcher Rhys Pitkin. Pitkin was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Oddballs. Mason Wells was the winner. Over 6 innings, he yielded 1 run on 7 hits, with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. Ottawa now sits at 51-75, while Toledo falls to 42-84.
With Ottawa leading 4-1 in the top of the eighth, Pitkin hit a fastball from Ben Knox for a 3-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Oddballs ahead, 7-1.
Said losing manager Riley Scott: "The at-bats, obviously, needed to be better."
