Cork Excels in 6-0 Maine Win
|
The Maine Grizzlies defeated the Scranton Dundies, 6-0, at Chukchansi Park. Maine second baseman Axl Cork had a superb performance. He went 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The win went to Carmello Clarke in relief, making him now 3-0. Pedro Alonzo took the loss for Scranton. The first-place Grizzlies lifted their record to 73-54.
With Maine leading 2-0 in the bottom of the third, Cork came up to bat against Scranton pitcher Pedro Alonzo. Cork hit a fastball to right for a 3-run home run. His 13th home run of the season put the Grizzlies on top, 5-0.
Said Scranton manager Jameson Senchak: "When you don't score, it's never a good thing."
