Both teams had their chances, but the Maine Grizzlies eventually prevailed.

The Maine Grizzlies turned back the Wilkes-Barre Barons, 7-6, at Coca-Cola Park. Rob Romo, in particular, had a fine performance. He went 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Ted McConnell, now 4-3, was credited with the win in 1.1 innings of relief. He allowed 3 runs on 2 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 0. Alan Welsh picked up the save, his 1st.

Ricardo Gonzáles helped out the Maine cause in the top of the third inning with a 2-run single. For the game, the third baseman went 2-5 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"We'll enjoy this win for now, but it's just one," Romo told local reporters. "We've got to keep it going."
