The Newark Bears got a sterling performance from pitcher Mesquite Glaze, but the Gwinnett Stripers still prevailed, 3-1. Glaze threw 6.0 innings of 2-hit ball. Bobby Larson notched the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record now sits at 3-2. The win gives Gwinnett a season record of 64-59.

Jayden Gibson drove in one run for Gwinnett. The 25-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Nuncio Balcerzak. It was his 1st RBI of the season.

"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Stripers manager Jeremy Milby, "I like our chances."
