Gwinnett third baseman Lorenzo Pérez had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 11-10, to Newark at Coolray Field. Pérez went 4-7 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. Doug Burchette picked up the win in relief. Mason Dawson took the loss for Gwinnett. With the win, Newark upped its record to 61-61.

The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Jason Eaves came to bat in the top of the 13th. Facing Gwinnett pitcher Mason Dawson, he hit a 1-2 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Newark on top, 11-10.

"Baseball is a wild game -- a crazy game, sometimes," said Eaves.
