The Gwinnett Stripers wasted an inspired, 6.1-inning effort from starter Pluto Benedith, falling, 2-1, to the Scranton Dundies at PNC Field. The win was credited to 26-year old left-handed pitcher Sergius Givins in relief. His record improves to 8-3. Marshall Williams took the loss. Their 66-58 record puts the Dundies 5th in the International League Northeast Division.

Scranton took a 2-1 lead on Ray Buchholtz's 14th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Buchholtz hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Gwinnett pitcher Marshall Williams visibly frustrated.

"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Jon Obrochta.
