Knights Roll Over Chiefs, 12-3
|
The Charlotte Knights had no problem beating the Syracuse Chiefs, 12-3, at Victory Field. J.R. Tormoehlen, who is tied for 2nd in the IL in bases on balls with 60, led the onslaught. He went 1-2 with 3 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for Charlotte. Charlotte starter Johnny Tyler was credited with the win after throwing 89 pitches over 5 innings. His record now stands at 3-3. Their 46-70 record puts the Knights 8th in the International League Southwest Division.
The Knights got a big hit from left fielder Issac Hall. Facing Syracuse pitcher Yunar Pedroza in the top of the ninth, Hall pounded a grand slam home run to right-center. His 12th home run of the season put the Knights ahead, 12-3.
"We did a lot of things right," said Hall.
