Scranton Topples Columbus, 9-6
|
Scranton and Columbus duked it out and the Dundies came out victorious.
The Columbus Clippers got a superb performance from third baseman Rich Chesky, but the Scranton Dundies still won the game, 9-6. Chesky was 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Ashley Morales earned the win for Scranton. He lasted 5.2 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits, while striking out 2. With the win, he raised his record to 3-2.
Scranton used the hitting of Timo Achilles to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Dundies on top, 2-1. For the game, Achilles had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"When you win, you always have confidence," said Scranton skipper Johnny Hales. "Nobody likes to lose. Losing is a downer. That's how we look at it. It's always good to win."
The first-place Dundies lifted their record to 73-41.
