In a tight contest at Smokies Park, the Midland RockHounds edged the Tennessee Smokies by the score of 3-2. Midland designated hitter Merlin Marshall, who blasted 2 home runs, was a key contributor. Midland pitcher Ermias Bias got the win. He's now 7-4. Ingemar Mattox was tagged with the loss. The RockHounds now have a record of 55-43.

Marshall had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a 1-1 fastball from Ingemar Mattox, he banged a 2-run home run to left-center, giving the RockHounds a 3-1 lead. It was the 19th home run of the year for Marshall.

"Both teams played hard," said Midland manager Ruben Almendarez.
