Travelers Handed 5-4 Loss by Northwest Arkansas
|
The Northwest Arkansas Naturals and Arkansas Travelers obliged fans hoping for an exciting game.
Arkansas first baseman Milton Teixeira had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Teixeira went 2-3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2, even as Northwest Arkansas beat the Travelers, 5-4. Charlie Sullivan picked up the win, lifting his record to 1-4 on the season. He struck out 2 and walked 5 in 5.1 innings, while yielding 4 runs.
Cole Silan had a big 3-run home run for the Naturals in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Northwest Arkansas trailing 4-2 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a sinker from Giovanni Keener, who is tied for 4th in the SL with a 1.01 WHIP, and swatted a home run to right. It was his 2nd home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Naturals ahead, 5-4.
"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Silan told the Northwest Arkansas Chronicle. "You win just by scoring more runs."
With the win, Northwest Arkansas is 22-78.
