The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp topped the Midland RockHounds, 9-1, in Southern League action at Security Bank Ballpark. The game was highlighted by the performance of Jacksonville pitcher Brandon Pritchett. The winning pitcher was Pritchett, now 4-1. He tossed 6.1 innings of 1-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 4. Ash Branthoover closed the door for Jacksonville, picking up his 3rd save of the year.

Allen Pomeroy had a big 2-run home run for the Jumbo Shrimp in the top of the fifth inning. With Jacksonville leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a slider from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Dabney Thompson and punished it. The result was his 7th home run of the season, which put the Jumbo Shrimp on top, 3-0.

"We'll try to build on that win," Pomeroy told the Jacksonville Chronicle.

With the win, Jacksonville has a record of 57-43. Midland falls to 54-46.
