Crawdads Losers, 8-4, to Columbia
|
The Columbia Fireflies knocked off the Hickory Crawdads, 8-4, in South Atlantic League action at L.P. Frans Stadium. Columbia pitcher and Los Angeles, California, native Wayne Corrie had an outstanding performance. The winner was Corrie. He threw 5.2 innings allowing 4 runs. The loser was Coyote Marrone. Columbia is 46-51 and Hickory, with the loss, 40-57.
Columbia used a well-timed hit by Darrell Fallon to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Fireflies ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.
"We need to keep playing good baseball," Corrie told the Columbia Gazette.
