Expos Walk It Off for 78th Win of Season
|
The Montreal Expos, despite a fine performance by St. Louis pitcher Quentin Schaffer, grabbed a 3-2 win in 11 innings at Olympic Stadium. Schaffer allowed 1 run over 6 innings. Montreal is second in the American League Sandoval Division with a record of 78-83.
The defining moment came in the bottom of the 11th for Montreal. That's when Regis Celestin hit a run-scoring double off 30-year old left-handed pitcher Jim Combs to win the game. The home crowd went wild.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Celestin.
