Spiders Trip Ignition, 5-3, in Extra Innings
|
The Spiders grabbed a win, 5-3, at PepsiCo Park, overcoming a fine effort from Indianapolis pitcher Max Mangan. Mangan went 5.2 innings and allowed no runs. Willy Barriga earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. His record is now 5-5. Jaden Bishop closed the door for Cleveland, picking up his 15th save of the year.
Cleveland used the timely hitting of Harrison Waite to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Spiders on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Always feels extra good winning this kind of game," said Waite.
Cleveland has a record of 89-71, placing them second in the Eastern Region Great Lakes Division.
