Texas turned a good effort from starter Todd Smith into a win over the Fresno Falcons at Savemart Center. The Rangers won the game, 2-0. The win has Texas at 60-100.

Smith, a native of Rutherford, New Jersey, was dealing all game. He kept Fresno hitters off-balance, while giving the Rangers 7.1 quality innings. Smith threw 99 pitches, allowing 2 hits and striking out 8.

"We played hard and won," said Smith. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
