Expos Jolt Mets, 5-2, with Late Rally
|
Spirited fans greeted the New York Mets for their clash with the Montreal Expos.
Montreal rode a good effort from starter John Sullivan to beat the New York Mets at Citi Field. The final score was 5-2. The winner was Zach Strain in relief. His record improves to 4-5. Colton Parisi took the loss.
Montreal used the timely hitting of Ricky Sytsma to seize the win. The catcher stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Expos on top, 5-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Montreal manager Dirk Botelho.
The loss makes New York 83-77.
