Astros Get Hard-Earned Win, Stop White Sox, 3-2
|
Houston got a strong outing from Derron McKenzie as the Astros defeated the Chicago White Sox, 3-2, at Guaranteed Rate Field. Jason Miranda got the save, the 37th for him this season. With the win, Houston pushed its record to 96-63.
Had Vasques Cortes not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Cortes hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Astros.
"I still think this team can play even better," McKenzie told the Houston News.
