Matt Walter Jr. had a hand in Chicago defeating Minnesota by the score of 9-1. Walter Jr. went 3 for 4 at the plate, scoring 1 times and driving in 2 runs. The winning pitcher was Ward Killin. The Cubs got a big hit from right fielder Joseph Tamrat. Facing Minnesota pitcher Simeon Ayala in the bottom of the fifth, Tamrat pounded a grand slam home run to left. His 1st home run of the season put the Cubs ahead, 9-1.

"I can only hope we've hit rock bottom," lamented losing manager Connor Sandstrom in postgame remarks.
