Boucher Powers Reds to 7-5 Win
|
Cincinnati and Pittsburgh got after it at Best Buy Ballpark.
Getting offensive support from D.J. Boucher, the Cincinnati Reds topped the Pittsburgh Pirates, 7-5. Boucher went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 3 and driving in 3 for the Reds. Cincinnati reliever Roger Jenkins picked up the win to move to 11-4. Vicente Gaytan suffered the loss. James Doll recorded his 3rd save for Cincinnati.
Boucher had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a full count forkball from Vicente Gaytan, he banged a 2-run home run to center, giving the Reds a 7-5 lead. It was the 29th home run of the year for Boucher.
"We'll put that win in the can," said Boucher, "and go after the next one."
Cincinnati has a record of 80-79, placing them third in the Eastern Region Great Lakes Division.
