The Cincinnati Reds got a magnificent performance from pitcher Christopher Brinck, who muffled the Pittsburgh offense en route to a tight 2-1 Reds win at Best Buy Ballpark. With the win, Cincinnati raised its record to 79-79.
The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Mike Chappelle came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing Pittsburgh pitcher Lucas Mills, he hit a 2-2 forkball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Cincinnati on top, 2-1.
"I felt good up there," said Chappelle. "I saw the ball well."
