Randall Gums added some punch to the St. Louis offense, helping them outmuscle the Vancouver Cascades, 15-7. In the game, Gums, who finished 5th in the AL in on-base percentage with .391 in 2061, went 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. With the win, the Cardinals improved to 24-19.

In the top of the seventh, Elijah Denton stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Cascades were trailing 14-7, but had the bases loaded. That's when Merv Ledlow made a terrific pitch and Denton grounded out. Gone was the dream of a Vancouver comeback.
