Rangers Earn 6-1 Home Win
|
The Texas Rangers picked up a win at Globe Life Park in Arlington, knocking off the Pittsburgh Pirates, 6-1. On the mound for Texas was right-hander E.J. Pulley. He played a key role in the triumph. Pulley got the win, improving to 11-13. He gave up 4 hits and walked 1 over 6 innings. He allowed 1 run. The current losing streak for Pittsburgh has reached 5 games.
Curt McDonnell had a big 2-run home run for the Rangers in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Texas leading 3-1 and a runner on 1st, he got a curveball from former first round draft pick Dilan Mendoza and swatted a home run to center. It was his 45th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Rangers ahead, 5-1.
"We're in a little funk right now and we've just got to get ourselves out of it," said Pittsburgh manager Mike Burch.
